French Curves – Cozy Winter

I was a member of the French Curves on my previous blog Hair-related.com, and I decided to still be part of the adventure here. For those who don’t know, French Curves is the challenge – bring by Gaëlle Prudencio – allowing several bloggers from different universe to share curvy looks the 16th of each months, on the same theme. Follow us and share your looks with the hashtag #FrenchCurves on Tweeter, Instagram and on the Facebook page of the challenge !

I’m 30 and…

I’m 30 and I’m not the owner of the apartment where I live.

I’m 30 and I’m not married yet.

I’m 30 ans I don’t have kids.

I’m 30 and I don’t have stable job anymore.

I can go on and on about this list ! When I got 20, I had plans. Most of them were about fulfilling that list of goals before I get 30. But are all of these projects really mines or just a reflection of what society want me to do ?

About 6 month ago, I was writing about the 30 year crisis I’ve been through in the post “Hello Midlife Crisis”. By reading it again today, I can see that I was preparing myself, one step at a time, to accept being 30 years old but also all my success and failures.

A few days ago, somebody asked me to explain what it feels like to be 30. Today, I can say that it allows me to be more indulgent toward myself. And the much talked about list has been replaced by life rules to follow in order to insure my happiness.

I’m 30 and I accept my lifestyle.

I’m 30 and I’m ok with my choices.

I’m 30 and I live for me, not for others’ glance.

I’m 30 and I think about my happiness first.

I’m 30 and I have a life ahead.

I’m 30 and I live for ME.

French Curves – Sparkle

Usually in December, I’m always wearing Black and Gold for the holidays season. I love this combination, it’s a perfect match for me! But this year, I’m turning my habits upside down : I will wear sparkly blue !

This dress from Torrid is part of a Special Occasion collection launched for the holiday season. What I like about that dress is the addition of the sequin on the lace overlay.

What are you wearing to celebrate the holiday season ?

5 Plus Size not that Ugly Sweater for the Holiday Season

Let’s be honest, the sweaters we can see all over the place in the stores during the holiday season are damned ugly. But being a fan of top with sarcastic messages, I have to admit that I love these horrors ! Not that I found them pretty, it’s mainly because they make me LMAO 🙂 So for you to have a goo laugh with me, here is a tiny selection of ugly sweater that are not that ugly (because there funny as hell!).

1 – The sweater you wear when Santa hires you to be an elf because you’re 5 foot 3

A big classic, with red and green. A crazy combination that doesn’t even suit my complexion ! I’m wearing a piece from Asda (a supermarket you can find in Great Britain). I bought it in the beginning of this month and almost died laughing in the store because of all the choices available.

2 – The sweater your great aunty could have made for you if you had visited her more often

And for the occasion H&M are here for you with this beautiful stitched jacquard sweater available in two colors !  It’s cute enough and perfect for those who want to pretend they bought an ugly sweater, those who will receive a lot of compliment from everybody and be like “What? You think it’s cute ? Nah it’s just my ugly sweater!!”.
Liar and hypocritical.

3 – The sweater you wear when you think you’re a christmas tree but can’t pull out a tinsel and go out

Ok now, I have a lot of questions racing through my mind… The person who will rock this sweater will need to have a lot of self-mockery. I have mixed feelings about this piece: I’m seriously wondering why does this sweater even exist ! And in the same time, I’m tempted to buy it, and to wear it for the holiday diner at my previous job next thursday…What shall I do now ?!

4 – The sweater you wear when you’ve been naughty and still want presents from your family

You can wear this sweater when you’ve been a pain in the ass for your entourage during those last 365 days. And when you already know that all you’ll find under the tree is an impersonal and generic beauty gift set bought from some supermarket containing a perfume, a deodorant and some shower gel from the same low quality cosmetic brand. No, I’m kidding. Or not. You’ll behave better next year.

5 – The sweater you wear when all you want is a Netflix subscription under the tree

If you don’t know where is this quote from, you and me can’t be friend. NEVER EVER. Yes, please google that and educate yourself, then come back to me. I’m a nice person so I’m avoid you an embarrassing research, clic on the lick to have the answer –> “Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal”.
You’re welcome.

Being stylish is great. Being myself and keep on laughing about myself is better. I thought that elf sweater was so ugly when I bought it, but I made it mine and I stil found myself gorgeous and hilarious with it. This post has been written by my sarcastic alter-ego who’s always ready to entertain the crowd. And I hope you’ll laugh as much as I did when I found the tinsel sweater from Asos (seriously WTF).

XoXo & Happy Holidays !

Girlboss

I was not part of the French Curves challenge back in September this year, as I was busy enjoying New York and Dallas. But as the subject was important to me, I still wanted to post a lil’ something about it.

GIRLBOSS… This word is bringing so much inspirations to me, that I don’t really know where to start. But my very first thought is going to Claire Sulmers from Fashion Bomb Daily. I had the opportunity to see her several times in New York, but did not get a chance to actually talk to her. Well, I guess God heard me complaining about it in my head ? When I got back to Paris, she organised a Cocktail with Claire in Paris !!! I was working that day – in Normandy, France – but managed to be there !

If you did read Claire’s book “The Bomb Life”, you already know that she went from being a journalist, an intern and a blogger to founder and editor in chief of her own website. She made her way to the heartless fashion industry and is now the head of one of the most influential fashion blogs. Her book is a memoir of her life before the fame, and gives some tips about blogging.

My look for this post is influenced by women like Claire who started from the bottom, struggled and made it to their dream life. Claire created her own opportunity when she understood that she did not have to wait for one.

During the cocktail I also had the chance to meet  Bonang Matheba, a south-africana business woman with several hats (radio and TV host, fashion icon…), including brand ambassador and muse for REVLON South Africa, Bonang recently launched her book too, “Bonang From A to B“.

It was also an occasion to meet beautiful people from all around the world : Africa, USA, Europe… I met a lot of women who were all GIRLBOSS according to me !
