French Curves – Pimp My Trench

I was a member of the French Curves on my previous blog Hair-related.com, and I decided to still be part of the adventure here. For those who don’t know, French Curves is the challenge – bring by Gaëlle Prudencio – allowing several bloggers from different universe to share curvy looks the 16th of each months, on the same theme. Follow us and share your looks with the hashtag #FrenchCurves on Tweeter, Instagram and on the Facebook page of the challenge !
Have a look on the other bloggers with the bloghop at the end of this post 🙂

What can I say ? “ça fait longtemps” ! I took advantage of this summer to trudge for a bit everywhere, and to think, always and again, about my futur. I’ve started a serious reassessment since the opening of the new blog, regarding my carrier, without really giving you any details. Indeed, I’m leaving the company I’ve been working for for 7 years, to confront the unknown. I’ve known about it way before the launch of the new bog, but I wasn’t confortable enough to publicly announce it. I putted too much pressure on myself, as I didn’t have any clear answer when people was asking stuff like “Where you goin’? What you doyin’?”. Yes, for now, my futur is uncertain : I don’t know yet what I’m going to do. So my answer is now “I’m considering my options.” ! Which is not a lie ! My head is full of ideas, so I’m working on several projects at the same time. For that matter one of them is the reason why I’ve been away. I need to do a huge preparation work, which (kind of) made me go back to school, as I’m taking Math and English classes at the moment !! I don’t know if it’s going to work. I’m not 100% confident about it, but I want to try and take any chances. I’m happy to be back here with the French Curvette team ! I had to pass last month because of a lake of time, but also because I wasn’t ready to spill the tea about my situation.

What is the Trench Coat ? Based on the etymology, it’s a coat for people who was staying on the trench during the war. It was created buy Thomas Burberry in 1914 (Thanks Wikipediaaaa!!). So yeah that’s not super glamour to imagine the soldiers in action during the war… But the thing is that after the war, it became a piece of clothes just like any other, as it’s was waterproof and warm ! The trench coat became a timeless piece as it was practical and endlessly reproducible !

Now I can tell you the truth : I’m not a trench coat person. But when I tried Rachel’s one, my awesome friend-photographer-singer-blogger-she does too much stuff-eft, I loved it ! I think it suits me so well, that maybe she should have gave it to me (ok I’m kidding Rachel…or not). This international bomb is from ELVI, that I’m going to keep a close watch on from now, as I tried a piece from them in real life !

And because it’s only sexy on movies to be naked under a coat, I’m wearing this out from space trench coat : a small tight top from Primark and a dotted swiss tutu skirt from Castaluna ! My booties ar from Torrid, which is an excellent provider to wide feet shoes (in addition to all the wonderful stuff you can already find). My jewelries (earrings and bracelet) are from the French brand Zabok that I think you should start to follow too.

So, how is everything for you ? Do you also have a trench coat from out of space or are going to borrow one from your friend for this fall ?

A bi-material dress for any occasion

I love those dresses that we can wear in any circumstances. And among those one, bi-material dresses are an excellent choice ! They are often mistaken for two pieces outfit when a part of it is plain and when both parts are separated by a belt or another accessory.

This dress being kind of dark, I decided to count on golden accessories and shoes to give a sparkling touch to this look. Going from a casual dress for work (if you work in an office) to a stylish outfit for night out in Paris !

I even use this look to make my last new business cards ! Because I thought that it was reflecting my personality very well : classy with a touch of gold !

I didn’t wait to do too much for make up and hair, so I have a light frozen brown smoky eye with a matte purple brown lipstick.

White Party

I’m currently in New York to attend to the Full Figured Fashion Week. This event is similar to the Oscars of the plus size industry. It has been created 9 years ago and keeps on growing regarding activities organised during the week. One of the key events is the “Curves at Sea All White Boat Cruise”. It’s dance night on a boat where all the attendees have to wear white. The sponsoring brands take advantage of the night to showcase an insight of their current collection. It’s really one of the night you don’t want to miss if you’re there and I’ll explain why in this post.

Avec Angelica (affordablecurve) sur le bateau

When your shape doesn’t fit beauty standards, we tend to deprive ourselves from trying some trends like crop tops, short skirts, see-through pieces… This night is a safe space where you can express yourself freely. Whatever your curves, your complex and your outfit, NOBODY will judge you !

Sometimes we blame communities for not supporting each other. I think that attending to this party is a way to make a contribution. You will meet models, photographers, bloggers, influencers and professional activist for this community. It’s a perfect way to meet people and especially to have fun together.

For this occasion I decided to wear a white dress from ELOQUII. I’m a fan of this brand, I think it dresses curves to perfection. When I buy a piece from them, I feel like it’s made to measure to fit me! The fabrics they use are excellent quality and they often carry special offer!

The white colour is very infamous towards larger women. It has been accused of highlighting all the flaws for years. Personally, I’ve always loved white: I think that colour makes any pieces elegant. I wear it a little due to a lack of occasion.

I sincerely think that white suites everybody. It’s bright and it’s often what’s catching the eye of others. Unlike common preconception, it doesn’t necessarily emphasis every defects that we’d like to hide…
What is your relationship with white ? I am curious ! Do you wear this colour easily ?

Come share your look on the Facebook page !!

Hello Midlife Crisis

I’ll go straight to the point : I seriously think that I’m in the middle of a midlife crisis ! I’m in that phase where you wonder if everything is meaningful. Should I do more ? or better ? This crisis, I decided to embrace it and to do whatever I wanted with it, instead of letting it consume me. This is why I’m starting a new blog. I wasn’t committed enough on all the subjects that I wanted to address because of a lack of time and this constant need for everything to be perfect. Yet everything can’t always be perfect, as what is good is not always perfect. So let me introduce to you my new blog with all its imperfections. My imperfections. And for good reason, my page setting is not done yet ! Not sure that I would have take this kind of risk a year ago… I’m making progress and coming forward one step at a time in accepting all the imperfections around me, physical or not. Therefore my very first post is one of this imperfections. I will tell you more about this soon enough, now I’ll let you enjoy this nice look that I created.

Nothing is better than colour to welcome the warm days ! This peplum style top is rom last year and comes from Fashion To Figure ! I bought it during a shopping sprees in New York. I love the cut and the tulle top which reveal the cleavage.

To go with this top I got a super pair of jeggings from Torrid. This colour is wonderful and tend toward a turquoise blue. Usually I wear more darker colour for bottoms, I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome of this colour on my. Yes I love these jeggings !!!

I found those flat sandales perfect for wide feet when I was lazing on Castaluna‘s website ! A reminder of turquoise just like I love them.

Never underestimate shops that don’t carry plus size, we can sometimes found some wonderful gems. It’s the case of this black clutch with green leaves which come from a store where a don’t shop a lot : Mango. I sometimes can slip myself in a XL top, but this is really rare !

My hair has been done by the talented AYAWA Hair Style who is in Paris at this moment, contact her if you want a new hair style ! For the Make up I recently started to use darker colour as I’m getting darker with the tan… My new foundation is the Double Wear Stay-in-Place from Estée Lauder (ref. 5C1 Rich Chesnut) and the concealer is the Radiant Creamy Concealer from NARS (ref. Med/Dark 3 Amande). I’m still in the test phase but so far I love this duo.
